September 21, 2022
On 16th September, we welcomed our guests to officially open our premises at The Convent.
Back in March 2020 we moved into The Convent, unfortunately within days the country was locked down as the Covid outbreak worsened. Meaning that our initial open day was cancelled and instead we held a virtual open day, you can watch the video here; https://youtu.be/v37lrvme-pY
Now over two years later, and with Covid lockdowns hopefully a distant memory, we were able to open our doors and welcome many of our partner organisations, donors and friends along to see our magnificent building and the work we do.
For the opening ceremony, we were honoured that the Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Derby, Robin Wood, came to cut the ribbon and unveil our new plaque celebrating the building.
Speeches were given by the Mayor of the City and our CEO Dionne Reid, and our guests were serenaded by the lovely Laura-Rose Gee and her harp.
Our new Women’s Work candle, hand crafted by our corporate partner The Scent Corvus, made it’s debut at the event and is now on sale on our website; Shop – Women’s Work (womens-work.org.uk)
The day was truly brilliant and the team were very proud to show all that Women’s Work have accomplished and continue to achieve. Thank you to all who attended and made the event such a success.
